Article summary

Purpose: The Extended Part C Option allows a subset of children to continue Part C Services past their third birthday until the first day of the school year following the child’s third birthday.

  1. All Indicator 8 (Part C Transition) timelines and requirements DO NOT Change

● The Extended Part C Option will be a part of Transition Planning (if applicable)

● Administrative Unit (AU) Notification and Timelines remain the same

● Transition Conference with AU Representative will include an explanation of the timing of Part C Extended Option

  1. Indicator 3 timelines DO NOT change

● Global Outcomes timelines remain the same

● Exit rating completed within 90 days before the child turns 3

  1. A new checkbox is available on the EI Case screen “Part B Eligible - Extended Part C”

● This is to be checked for any child aged 3 or older participating in Extended Part C

● Status to remain Active

  1. Service Coordinator must update the end date(s) for each service on the IFSP

● This should be done as part of a review meeting

○ Periodic review if the timeline will last throughout the extended time period

○ Annual review if an annual would be needed after the child turns 3 (move the date of the annual review up to an earlier date)

● When the child exits the Extended Part C Option there is a new Closed/Eligible Exit Reason

○ “Part B Eligible - Participated in Extended Part C” and enter the ID on the Contact.
