Module 5 – Family Assessment & Conversational Interviewing

Time: This module will take approximately 90 – 120 minutes to complete. A good spot to take a break (stretch, get a snack, etc.) is before starting the video section on slide 5.5.1. This slide begins a lengthy section of some actual family assessment video examples  

Task: Determine which Family Assessment Tool is used at the local EIB and inquire about how training will be provided to use the tool (ask a supervisor or trainer)

Additional Learning Opportunity: EI Colorado has developed some materials to assist EIBs with training on both the SAFER and FACETS family assessment tools. This information can be found at this link: Family Assessment through Conversational Interviewing Padlet. The Routines-Based Interview (RBI) has specific requirements for training, so if the EIB uses this tool, ask about how this training will be provided

Troubleshooting Tip: If the videos “hang up” and stop working, try closing the training and going back in, or try a different browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, Edge, Safari, etc)
