Early Intervention Provider Portal User Guide Waivers

Purpose: Early Intervention Colorado may issue a waiver to a Provider who does not meet the Provider Personnel Standards however intends to fully meet the minimum standards within one year or is approved for a waiver by EI Colorado Staff.
Standard Waiver: Issued to providers who intend to fully meet the minimum standards in the EI Colorado personnel standards within one year. A provider for whom a waiver is requested must receive supervision by a provider that meets EI Colorado Personnel Standards and provides supervision in accordance with the Supervisor of Providers with Standard Waivers requirements. The provider for whom the waiver is requested should be currently enrolled in an educational program, which when completed, will fully meet EI Colorado personnel standards.
Specialized Developmental Intervention Waiver: Issued to a provider holding a Master’s degree in ECSE with knowledge of child development and documented experience in supporting infants and toddlers with developmental concerns and their families. This waiver does not expire and does not have supervision requirements.
Developmental Intervention - Assistant Waiver: Issued to providers with an Associate’s degree in a related field or 4 years of experience working with infants and toddlers with developmental concerns. Developmental Intervention-Assistants must meet Competencies for Developmental Intervention-Assistants and receive supervision by a provider that meets EI Colorado Personnel Standards and provides supervision in accordance with the Competencies for Supervisors of Developmental Intervention-Assistants. This waiver does not expire as long as the requirements for supervision are met.
